Incursions
Be ready for a tough fight
First Off I need to explain that this is a brief guide to help you get your feet wet. It does not mean you are ready run incursions if you follow its advice. I am mostly trying to focus this guide to be a tool you can use to help you be prepaired to be walked through an incursion. Do not attempt them without someone who has done it several times leading your fleet or someone is in for tears.
Fitting Goals
The basic fitting philosophy for incursions is to have a buffer tank and as much DPS as possible. For repairs the fleets use logistic ships. Because of that NO ship should have ANY active/passive tanking modules (shield booster, boost amplifier, shield recharger, armor repper). You will also find that it is harder to find an armor fleet I would instead recomend fitting for shield fleets regardless of your ships bonuses to armor. In the following are some basic guidelines for fitting a decent buffer tank:
- all shield or armor resists should be at least at 70% or more (80% is excellent)
- depending on the signature radius and incursion site, the EHP should be at least 50k - 100k (see graph below)
- fitting a Damage Control Unit II makes a great safety net (if you can't use one, start training for it)
- for ships up to battlecruiser size, an afterburner can improve your tanking ability quite a bit

Fitting Programs (get one of these trust me you need it)
Fitting programs are used to tryout and play around with ship fittings out of the game. You have all ships and modules at your disposal and can set various skills at all levels you want. The programs are an essential tool for everyone who is fitting ships on his own and want to test and optimize as much as possible before buying stuff ingame. I can't give instructions on how to use this programs, but you can find plenty of informations about them on the net or the program sites. In the following is a list of the 3 fitting programs I'm aware of. They all do the job and which one you want to use is up to you:
- EveHQ - It isn't only a fitting tool but also offers a lot more features. It isn't really lightweight because of that, but the built-in fitting tool is really great. I use it for all my fits and can really recommend it to anyone.
- Pyfa - The "Python Fitting Assistant" is another fitting program. Like EFT it doesn't offer anything else than fitting management, but that's exactly what we want anyway. Because it is written in python it's an excellent choice for linux users. I tested it myself and it does pretty good.
- EFT - The "Eve Fitting Tool" is exactly what the name says. It doesn't offer fancy features, but is an excellent fitting program. It is a little outdated though and may not offer exact results.
Tech 1 Standard Logistics ships
Standard armour repairers are low slot modules that can only repair your own ship. Similarly, shield boosters fit in mid slots and can only boost your own shields chances are you have incountered these and use them regularly. Remote versions of both modules exist which fit into high slots and repair the shield or armour of your active target. Remote armour repairers are popular in PvP and are heavily used in Gallente or Amarr group PvE setups. Shield transfers are great for helping shield tanked ships stay alive and as such are popular with Caldari mission and exploration groups. There are small, medium and large versions of each and they can be used on any ship, leading to some unconventional fits.
The entry level ships for pilots specialising in a healer-type role are the Gallente Exequror Caldari Osprey Mimnitar Scythe cruisers and the Amarr Augoror. The Exequror gets a 10% reduction in remote repairer capacitor usage per level of Gallente Cruiser and the Osprey gets a similar 10% reduction in shield transfer capacitor usage per level of Caldari Cruiser. Both ships come with a built-in a role bonus giving them an additional 500% to the range of their respective modules, making medium remote armour repairers reach a respectable 30km and medium shield transfers up to 36km.
The Scythe and the Augoror however do not have the same remote repair capabilities and are generally not used as healers but are still used mainly as an offensive support ship.

Tech 2 Logistic ships
While the standard Tech 1 remote repair cruisers are of limited usefulness, their Tech 2 big brothers are incredible healers. The Gallente Oneiros and Amarr Guardian both get a massive 750% bonus to the range of remote armour repairers and a 100% bonus to the amount repaired by its armour repair drones. In addition, they get a 15% reduction in remote repairer capacitor use per level of the Logistics skill. The Caldari Basilisk and Minmatar Scimitar have similar bonuses oriented toward shield transfers, with a 750% bonus per level to their range and a 15% capacitor usage reduction per level.
Perhaps most important to the success of logistics ships is their built-in role bonus. The Oneiros and Guardian both get a reduction in powergrid usage for remote armour repairers while the Basilisk and Scimitar get a CPU usage reduction for shield transfers. This allows Logistics ships to fit a full rack of large remote repairers or shield transfers instead of just mediums. With their built-in range bonus, a logistics ship can repair their target from just over 71km away, well out of range of most potential threats. Both the Basilisk and Guardian are extremely popular choices due to their additional bonuses to remote energy transfer modules.
